The Manning River Sailing Club Inc. welcomes any classes that wish to sail with us.

The Sabot sailing dinghy, which takes its name from the wooden Dutch shoe or clog, was originally designed in America. It is a one design class that is competitive and also a training boat. It can be sailed by one or two persons.

Spiral

Spiral sailing dinghy

The Spiral is a one design racing boat. It's easy to rig, safe and performs well. It is easily handled by one person for racing, and can comfortably accommodate two for cruising. It is sensitive and responsive in light breezes and stable and in stronger winds. Both novices and experienced sailors will be rewarded with exciting sailing.

Flying Ant

The Flying Ant is a two person skiff dinghy with trapeze & spinnaker suitable for 12-17 year olds. It is an excellent training ground for the higher performance dinghies because although the boat is safe, easy and fun to handle, it is also an exciting planing dinghy that performs like many of the bigger boats.

The Flying Eleven is designed as a high performance racing skiff suitable for 12 to 18 year olds. It is an excellent follow-on boat for Sabots, Manly Juniors & other junior classes. The class is very strong around Australia, with National regattas attracting fleets of over 100 boats.

Laser

Laser sailing dinghy

Lasers are usually sailed single-handed, but can easily handle a crew of two. This class is known for being safe and simple for beginners, yet highly competitive for the advanced sailor.

Lasers are 4.23m long and carry a sail area of 7.0 metres square for full rigs, while radial rigs are a smaller option at 5.4 metres square.

VeeJay (Vaucluse Junior) sailing skiff

The VJ is an exciting, low cost, intermediate sized skiff designed for the for the Vaucluse Amateur Sailing Club. The hull shape has remained unchanged over the years, allowing older boats to remain competitive for many seasons.

"a speed machine that can travel as fast as a Flying Dutchman. This is a high performance training boat, and it's power to weight ratio is nothing short of phenomenal. One way or another they are hair raising boats, and you need the nerve of a fighter pilot to sail them."

The Cherub is a lightweight, high performance development class. The Cherub is a 2 person twelve foot racing dinghy with spinnaker and trapeze. Being a development class, the Cherub varies considerably about the globe with significant differences between the UK and Australia/New Zealand

The 470 is a double-handed dinghy which has been an Olympic Class since 1976. The planing fibreglass hull is equipped with spinnaker and a single trapeze, making sailing real teamwork.

The 470 was originally designed to introduce families to sailing, it is an ideal boat for learn to sail students, but to be competitive, every aspect should be mastered to perfection.
