General Information and Club Rules

1. PARKING.
Cars may be parked on the road directly in front of the club, or in the car-park adjacent. Cars are not permitted on the grassed area. Occasionally, you may need to pick up or drop off your boat. In this case you may drive onto the reserve, unhook your trailer and then move the car. When doing this, follow safety precautions.

2. RIGGING.
As a courtesy, boats rigging close to the water must leave a thoroughfare for other boats to be launched and retrieved. To make everyone's sailing day more enjoyable, it is recommended that all sailors help each other launch and retrieve boats, without being asked. Being helpful will lead other sailors to be more willing to help you and others.

3. BOAT TROLLEYS.
Boat trolleys shall be left in an appropriate area, to one side of the launching ramp whilst that boat is on the water.

4. VISITOR'S FEE.
The visitor's fee shall be $5.00 per race. After a visitor has sailed casually in 3 races, it is expected that they become a member of the club. (This is due to our insurance requirements)

5. CLUBHOUSE BEHAVIOUR.
People shall not do the following:
....a) use offensive language
....b) swim in the launching area whilst boats are being launched or retrieved
....c) jumping off the adjacent wharf is prohibited (by NSW Maritime Authority)
....d) indulge in "horse play" in the vicinity of the clubhouse.
....e) Waste water

6. LOST PROPERTY.
Any clothing or unauthorised equipment belonging to club members and left in the clubhouse or its vicinity shall become the property of the MRSC Inc. if it is not retrieved by its owner within a reasonable time.

7. DUTY ROSTER.
Each race, apart from Club Championship heats, a vessel will be rostered on to conduct race management and other tasks. Their duties are as follows:
....a) Before the race:
........i. Help launch all support craft. (Check all required equipment is on board (checklist on wall next to support boat)
........ii. Assist/Conduct all preliminary race management tasks
........iii. Assist with BBQ/canteen;
....b) During the race:
........i. Assist/Conduct all race management duties (see Race Officer's Guidelines)
....c) After the race:

........iii. Empty the Club rubbish bins and remove rubbish from site;
........iv. Ensure that the Clubhouse is locked or designate someone to lock up.
Ensure all Race Officer Guidelines have been followed.
....d) Race Officers:
........For your Duty Day:
........i. It is your responsibility to ensure that the above duties are attended to;

8. BOAT STORAGE.
The Club does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage by fire, theft, or other cause, to any boat or equipment not owned by the Club which is left in the Clubhouse. Removable items (especially shackle keys) should be taken home and members should arrange insurance on their own property if required. Boats stored in the Clubhouse must be registered with the Club and raced regularly in Club events.

9. DINGHIES OWNED BY THE CLUB.
Sailing boats owned by the Club and used for sailing lessons, are under the control of Training Officers while classes are in session. They must be handled with normal care and not be dragged along the ground. They must not be left unattended without informing one of the Training Officers. These boats may be used during the normal afternoon race by Club members, subject to Race Management's approval and the payment of necessary hiring fees. In this case the boat becomes the responsibility of the user who must arrange for the boat to be washed and returned to the racks of the Clubhouse before the end of the day.

10. INSURANCE.
It is strongly recommended that all boats carry their own On Water Third Party Public Liability Insurance. Major regattas require a minimum of AU$10 Million cover. The MRSC Inc. will not force you to have this cover for club events, however this will be a requirement for all interclub regattas or other major sailing events run by the MRSC.

11. SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
As we sail in accordance with the safety regulations of the AYF and the special rules for each Class, members will need to determine any special conditions that apply for their boats (see Race Management). Members are required to wear a buoyancy vest or Personal Flotation Device (PFD-2) in all Club activities on the water. There are some general rules given in the following quick summary which should be complied with on our waters. All boats should have a towing fairlead (a ring 38mm internal diameter and 4mm thick) fitted to the bow, detachable rudders should be secured by a pin through the pintle. Centreboards must be secured so they do not leave the centreboard case when the boat is inverted. The hull should be identified by 50 mm letters showing sail number, boat name and club initials. Some Classes may be required to carry a bailing bucket, paddle and/or tow rope.
